FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. WILL MY ANKLES GET WEAK IF I USE ANKLE BRACES?
Answer: NO. Because the muscles surrounding your ankles are always working with this device you will not have any atrophy (weakness) of muscles.
2. DO I NEED TO WEAR ANKLE BRACES FOR SPORTS?
Answer: NO. But you should look at the use of ankle braces like a jock, or house insurance. You will not need it on a daily basis, but when they are needed, it would be a serious disadvantage not to have it in place.
In a perfect world you will not need to use this insurance; but if you land on someone's foot or catch your toe in the turf you will be LOVING not losing time to injury.
However, if you do not have the device on tight it is like having glasses sitting on your bedside table; pretty much useless.
3. WHAT SPORTS IS IRON ANKLE GOOD FOR?
Answer: Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Football, Tennis, Baseball, Running, Ultimate, Rugby, Badminton, Free Running, Aussie Rules, Squash, Racquetball, Handball, Netball, Duathalon, Decathalon, Orienteering, Pilota, Pickleball, Cricket, Baton Twirling, Quiddich, Sepak Takraw, Wallyball, Lawn Bowls, Competitive Dance, Full contact table tennis etc...
Any sport that you contact the ground and have to move in a dynamic way or transfer weight with your legs or feet and wear shoes.
3. WILL IRON ANKLE ABSOLUTELY STOP ME FROM INJURING MY ANKLE?
Answer: NO. The correct use of IRON ANKLE (having the cuff and lateral support strap done up snugly) should decrease the severity of any injury compared to not wearing any protection. It should attenuate (lessen) the stress put on the ligaments than being unbraced.
4. DO INEED ANKLE BRACES IN A REHABILIATION SETTING?
Answer: YES. If your medical professional has prescribed this medically necessary device, then, in their opinion you DO need them for safe daily activity. If you are tripping or falling because of weakness then IRON ANKLE will pre-position your foot in a safe weight bearing position.
4. WHAT KINDS OF MEDICAL/REHABILITATION NEEDS WOULD I NEED TO WEAR IRON ANKLE?
Answer: Any condition that creates a weakness of the pre-tibial musculature. If you are suffering from trips or falls due to 'catching your toe' due to weakness or timing issues.
Stroke, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, or any Neuromuscular or Musculoskeletal diagnosis that creates weakness or inability of the tibialis anterior muscles or toe extensors to fire adequately to allow the needed 100 degrees of dorsiflexion to allow clearance of the toe on swing.
5. IS IRON ANKLE COMFORTABLE?
6. WILL THIS BRACE GET IN THE WAY OF MY NORMAL MOVEMENTS?
Answer: NO. Dorsiflexion, plantarflexion, and eversion are free. It will attenuate (lessen) inversion, the most common type of ankle injury.
It should prevent you from going into a dangerous Range of Motion movement that will cause injury; specifically over inversion or over supination. If you wear the device snugly and re-adjust it be sure it is being worn correctly it should pre- position your foot on the ground in a safe orientation. If a roll, or over supination is to occur the lateral support strap should take a great deal of the harmful force through it's length and attachments points.
7. WILL THE SEATLE SEAHAWKS WIN THE SUPERBOWL IN 2015?
